Live recordings of Gaither Carlton (1901-1972), Anglo-American old-time fiddler, banjo player and singer, and Arthel "Doc" Watson (1923- ) Anglo-American guitarist, banjo player and singer, both from Deep Gap, Watauga County, N.C. Carlton performed old-time tunes, old-time songs, and ballads on the fiddle or banjo and voice, accompanied on some selections by Barry Poss on banjo and Sharon Poss on guitar. Watson performed two old-time songs on banjo and voice.
